Local 51 Leadership Meets With R.I. Congressional Delegation - (3/17/2014)
On Tuesday March 11, 2014 members of the R.I. Building Trades met with the Rhode Island Congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. Present at the meeting were Senator Jack Reed, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Representative James Langevin and Representative David Cicilline. The discussion that followed included talks on a PLA for the General Dynamics expansion, a PLA for the Newport Naval Station Wind Turbine Project, clarification on when apprenticeship utilization is allowed on FHWA projects, licensing of trades on military installations and the "Superman" building in Providence. We would like to thank our Senators and Congressmen for allowing us the time to speak on these issues and helping the Building Trades move forward in the State of Rhode Island.
