Apprenticeship Applications: March 2-13, 2026


Thank you for your interest in Plumbers & Pipefitters UA Local 51!

The next application period will be March 2 - 13, 2026. The link to our online application portal will be posted on our website.

Applications Timeline

  1. March 2-13, 2026: Applications Accepted (Online)
  2. April 2026: Math Evaluation (Applicants who score below a 70 will not continue to the interview)
  3. May 2026: Interview (For applicants scoring 70 or above on the math test)
  4. June 2026: Notice of Application Result: Acceptance or Rejection
  5. September 2026: Classes begin

Applicant Requirements:

  1. All applicants must provide a valid Driver's License
  2. Applicants must be 18 years of age by September 2026
  3. Graduate High School or have GED by June 2026
  4. Pass required Drug Test

Required Documents: (Digital Copies)

  1. A passport/driver’s license style photo of yourself
  2. A copy of your valid driver's license
  3. A copy of your birth certificate
  4. Transcripts: High school or GED unofficial transcripts
  5. Diploma: High school diploma/ or GED diploma (Applicants pending graduation June 2026 may submit a letter from their high school detailing their enrollment and expected graduation date)

Optional Documents: (If Applicable)

  1. Military ID & Orders, Transfer or DD214 form. (Sign up for Helmets To Hardhats)
  2. Resume
  3. Trade School Transcripts
  4. Trade School Graduation Certificate
  5. College Transcripts
  6. College Graduation Diploma
  7. Certifications: OSHA, NFPA, EPA, CPR, First Aid, etc..
  8. Additional Training: Rhode Island Makers Certificate, Building Futures Certificate, Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate
  9. State Issued Apprentice Licensing in either Plumbing, Pipefitting or Refrigeration with Estimated work and school hours are required
  10. Work visa and proof of residency, if applicable.

Re-Applies:

Applicants who applied last year will be able to use their login credentials to access their applicant profile in our portal. You will need to submit a new application. The fee will be waived and your original documents will be in your profile. Please update any documents as needed and follow the application steps.

Applicants who applied prior to 2025 and paid the application fee will have their fee waived. Please follow the application steps and email asanna@ualocal51.com for waiver/refund of the application fee and to check what documents we have on file for you.

Applicants who have already passed the math test with a 70 or above will not have to re-take the test. We will notify you of your interview date and time by mid April.
